The Ink Shot archive
From 7 May 2012 until 7 December 2021 The Ink Shot was the blog of Marcus Baumgart, an itinerant café writer, designer of buildings, animal-lover and day-by-day battling creative. This blog celebrates the practice of writing in cafés, writing fiction and non-fiction and being creative in general.
Marcus struggles to motivate without the happy white noise of lively conversation and hissing espresso machines.
A shot in the brain to kick off 2014
Today I spent a calming half hour in my favourite writing cafe doing exactly that - writing. Nice to be back. Caffeine was delivered via two vectors, coffee and coke - I hadn't had enough coffee at that point, so I had developed a low level headache. Feed the addiction!
What's coming up in 2014?
Hello inkshotters, 2013's second half was completely consumed by my new business, Baumgart Clark Architects. But I'm back! We ended the year on a high, with all going well, and 2014 is shaping up to be busy and fascinating. Look forward to some random posting from here and there, including from a short trip to Hong Kong in February. I trust your New Year's Eve was safe, and I wish you a prosperous 2014. Watch this space!
Still alive and kicking (and writing)
Hello Inkshotters. Please forgive my absence, and the non-postiness of this post, but I have been busy setting up a new business and tending to a new blog that details my experience of it at the same time - you can check it out at archistartup.com. I have also been writing in earnest, recently for Landscape Architecture Australia as well as for Artichoke, as per usual. Time pressure has kept me out of cafes for writing purposes; I have been writing at home, so nothing to report from the world of the sputtering espresso. It's too cold to go out, at any rate! Check out the photo below if you don't believe me.
Anyhoo, I trust you are all well, and enjoying the tail end of the season, whether that be Summer or Winter in your neck of the woods. See you all soon.
